General Advice

This is a place for general advice which can apply to any JoCo Cruise sailing.

  • FOMO is real, you can't do everything, so pace yourself. If you're enjoying yourself (and not impeding on others' enjoyment), you're doing JoCo right.
  • If you need introvert time, watching a main concert in your room can be a great way to have time to yourself, but still feel like part of the community.
  • If you can afford it, plan to arrive the night before so as to avoid missing the boat due to travel delays.
  • The sun is fierce even in March (and bounces off the water) so bring sunscreen, or buy it before we leave for the best prices (the boat has major upcharge). Don't forget that sunscreen wears off; re-apply every couple hours.
  • If you plan to get off the boat in ports, keep track of Ship Time (which can be different from local time) because the boat will not wait. If you take ship sponsored excursions, the boat is obligated to wait for those, but they are often more expensive than exploring on your own.
  • To keep yourself healthy, follow the 4-2-1 Convention Rules: 4+ hours of sleep, 2+ meals and 1+ shower a day.
  • The JoCo Cruise Helpers are a great resource for questions or concerns that arise during the cruise.
The goal here is to collect useful advice and notes, without creating a list that could overwhelm new folks.
