Ryka Aoki
Ryka Aoki’s latest novel, Light From Uncommon Stars, was released in Sept 2021 by Tor Press. It is an LA Times Bestseller, a #1 Amazon Bestseller, and has been named as one Barnes & Noble’s Best Science Fiction & Fantasy Books of the Year, It has been named one of the Top 10 Science Fiction Books of 2021 by Kirkus, Goodreads, and Bookpage, and was recognized by The New York Public Library as one of its 2021 Top 10 Books for Adults across all forms and genres.
Ryka is also a two-time Lambda Literary Award finalist for her collections Seasonal Velocities and Why Dust Shall Never Settle Upon This Soul, and has been honored by the California State Senate for “extraordinary commitment to the visibility and well-being of Transgender people.” She has an MFA in creative writing from Cornell University, and is currently a professor of English at Santa Monica College.
